Roulette is a game of pure chance, although some people try to use betting systems. These systems are advertised in the press, and they can make claims about a ‘loophole’ in the odds.
An outside bet is a wager that the winning number will be one of the first 18 or last 18 numbers (1-18). These bets offer lower payouts, but a greater chance to win.
Bets
There are a number of different betting opportunities on roullete. The most common is the Split Bet, which pays 17-1 if you correctly predict two numbers. The Street Bet, also known as a cheval in French, involves placing your chip(s) to straddle the line between two numbers on the layout and pays 11-1 if you win. Outside bets are also available, which pay 2-1 and cover a larger number of numbers than inside bets. These wagers are more conservative and therefore easier for new players to make.
